High School Program of Studies Steering Committee

The High School Program of Studies Steering Committee has been hard at work conducting a comprehensive review of the document.

Overview of the task and charge to review the Program of Studies:

a) Conduct a comprehensive review of the High School Program of Studies
b) Decide on the common core of offerings (both in core and elective
classes).
c) Simplify and reorganize the document for clarity and ease of use by  students and parents
d) Review and make recommendations for the following topics:

At the time the 2006-2007 High School Program of Studies was approved by the School Board in December 2005, Grading Scale, Rank in Class, Weighted Grades, Grade Point Average, and Exams and Exam Exemptions were under review.  There were no changes in these items for the 2006-2007 school year.  These items remain under review, with any potential changes to be included in the 2007-2008 High School Program of Studies. Additional topics for consideration have been identified and are listed in the meeting notes.

The review process has been a looping dialogue about best practices. The high school principals meet to discuss possible recommendations presented to the steering committee. The steering committee discusses the recommendations, provides feedback and sends the proposed changes back to the principals to seek input from their respective school staff. This feedback then returns to the steering committee to reach consensus.
