Graphic Design, Multimedia and Web Technologies I

Prerequisite - Keyboarding or demonstrated and documented touch keyboarding skills

Grades 9-12

1 credit

Graphics Design is a class designed for students interested in business, computers, and/or the internet.  Student will have the opportunity to create a variety of desktop publishing items including:

  • Newsletter
  • Brochure
  • Storybook
  • and lots more!

In addition, students will learn how to use exciting multimedia programs to create interactive storyboards using sound and animation as well as other types of multimedia presentations such as moviemaker. 

Part of the evaluation of this class will be a portfolio of work kept throughout the year.  Students will have tangible evidence of their achievements that they can take with them when looking for a job!

This class is an excellent choice for any student with an interest in computers, especially those considering college in the future.  Computers are becoming more and more prevalent in education and business today, and it is imperative that students learn to use

So This Class is Fun and We Make Stuff...What Else?

Well, since you asked, student will complete this course with a fundamental understanding of computer operations and applications.  College-bound students will be well-prepared for writing college papers and presentations.  Students entering the workforce will have excellent, marketable job skills.  Students will have the skills to work as clerical assistants, desktop publishers, and publication specialists.  Career opportunities abound for people with great computer skills, and the pay rate grows with the amount of skill and knowledge


Graphic Design, Multimedia and Web Technologies II

Prerequisite - Design, Multimedia and Web Technologies I

Grades 10-12

1 credit

Students develop advanced skills in creating interactive media, web sites, and publications for print and electronic distribution.  Students work with sophisticated hardware and software applying skills learned to real world projects.  This course is recommended for all students, especially those interested in pursuing a graphics design career or major. Completion of this course may prepare students for industry certifications.


** CTE Completer and sequential elective requirement for Graphic Design Multimedia and Web Technologies (2 credits). Graphic Design Multimedia and Web Technologies I and one of the following courses:

  • Graphic Design Multimedia and Web Technologies II
  • Computer Information Systems I
  • Computer Science

A career and technical education completer is a student who completes a CTE concentration or specialization and meets all high school graduation requirements. A concentration is a coherent sequence of courses (courses totaling 2 credits) completed by a student in a specific career area.
