2)  What is DISC?
3)  What is an Instant Challenge and why is it important?
4)  What is meant by "DI DAZE"?

Answers
1)  Q What is "Destination Imagination" ("DI")?
A
"DI" is a non-profit organization that sponsors competitions in creative problem solving for teams of students at various age levels-- from elementary school through college. There is a main "team challenge" which teams select and work on for weeks ahead of a competition. Then there is also the "instant challenge," which teams face for the first time at the competition.

To learn more, check this page of information from the DI web site:

2)  Q What is DISC?
A
"DISC" stands for "Destination Imagination Support Committee." This committee oversees a scholarship program for DI.

3)  Q What is an Instant Challenge and why is it important?
A
At a DI competition, teams present their solutions to a team challenge which they have been working on for several weeks before the tournament. However, they also have to solve an "Instant Challange," a challenge they have never seen before.

Here is how the "Instant Challenge" is described on the DI website:

"The Destination ImagiNation Instant Challenge is a Challenge teams are asked to solve in a very short period of time at their Tournament, without knowing ahead of time what the Challenge will be. Teams go into a room and are given a Challenge and the materials with which to solve it. They use their thinking-on-their-feet skills to produce a solution, usually in a period of five to eight minutes!"

4)  Q What is meant by "DI DAZE"?
A
"DI DAZE" is a program sponsored by my high school DI team. It was named for "days" of instant challenge practice and training that my team held for elementary and middle school DI team members (and potential team members) in our region.

The training was always split into two days of workshops:

1) "Instant Soup" -- training on team work and "hands on"/technical challenges.

2) "Improv-O-Rama" -- training on creative thinking and improv challenges.

After our first year of "DI DAZE," we added a third day of training called the "DI DAZE Grab Bag eDItion." On this day, we didn't provide individuals to read the various challenges. Instead, teams traveled from room to room, and we delivered bags to the teams with all of the challenge materials and directions.
