ESOL Course Offerings

 

Albemarle County Adult Education offers year-round Beginning to Advanced level English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) to adult learners from througout Central Virginia.  Our students not only work on improving their English language skills, but they also learn about the United States, the Central Virginia community and the many services and opportunities available to them here.
 

Fall 2010 ESOL Class Schedule

General ESOL for All Skill Levels
Monday & Wednesday, 6:30 - 8:30PM

September 13 - December 15, 2010
Tuition: $75 per semester

Communication Skills 1
(Beginning to Intermediate Skill Levels)
Monday & Wednesday, 9:30 - 11:30AM
Burley Middle School Annex, 907 Henry Avenue
September 27 - December 8, 2010
Tuition: $125
Improve speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in a small group setting which provides individualized help for particular needs. 

Communication Skills 2
(Intermediate to Advanced Skill Levels)

Tuition: $125

United States Citizenship Test Preparation
(All Skill Levels)
Tuesday, 6:30 - 8:30PM
Albemarle High School, 2775 Hydraulic Road
Tuition: $50 (no charge for currently enrolled Albemarle Adult Education ESOL students)
Helps students learn about and prepare for the test for United States citizenship and answers questions about the naturalization process.

ESOL Workplace Skills
(Advanced Skill Levels)
Tuesday, 6:30 - 8:30PM
Albemarle High School, 2775 Hydraulic Road
Tuition: $125 (no charge for currently enrolled Albemarle Adult Education ESOL students).
For ESOL students who wish to improve their opportunities for employment or advancement within their current postition.  Job skills, interview protocol, resumes, email etiquette and other skills necessary for success in the workplace.

ESOL Advanced Academic Skills
(Intermediate to Advanced Skill Levels)
Tuesday, 6:30-8:30PM
Albemarle High School, 2775 Hydraulic Road
Tuition: $125 (no charge for currently enrolled Albemarle Adult Education ESOL students).
For ESOL students interested in entering institutions of higher learning in the United States.  Provides instructional activities designed to help develop the skills necessary for academic success in reading, writing, listening and speaking English.  Not specifically a TOEFL preparation class, but will give students the tools and practice necessary to score well on this test.
