![]() I write this message at the end of the first day of the 2009 – 2010 school year. The staff’s hard work during summer preparations made today a smooth and successful start to the school year. I believe that hard work will pay off for the rest of the year, as well. This year, our students will experience Language Arts instruction within small groups and Literacy Stations. Literacy Stations are “centers” that teachers construct to help students deepen literacy skills at their individual instructional levels and through their personal interests. Students will also have increased opportunities to deepen their understanding of the curriculum through technologies such as iPODs, flip cameras, GPS units, Personal Response Systems, ELMOs, SMARTBoards, laptop computers, etc. We believe using such technologies not only helps students connect what is taught to the outside world, but also develop and sharpen their 21st Century technology skills. Be sure to talk with your children about the technologies they are using at school; if you’re like me, you’re likely to learn a few things, too. | ||
