POLLUTION PREVENTION (P2) INITIATIVES

What is Pollution Prevention or "P2"? According to the Pollution Prevention Act, Pollution Prevention means "source reduction" and implementing practices that reduce or eliminate the creation of pollutants.

Albemarle County Public Schools is currently involved in several P2 initiatives. Our draft Environmental Management Policy embodies a clear commitment to Pollution Prevention. Also, Pollution Prevention opportunities are considered when setting environmental Objectives and Targets, which is a key element of our Environmental Management System (EMS).
