Dave Francis came to WAHS for the 2004-05 school year as a part-time assistant principal following his retirement as principal of Nelson County High School. He served as the interim principal for the 2008-09 school year and was then appointed as principal last spring.  Throughout his career he has worked in several other school divisions in Virginia as both teacher and administrator.  While he provides overall leadership for the school, he specifically supervises the math and world language departments.

College degrees include a B.A. from West Virginia University, a M.A.Ed. from Madison College, and an Ed.S. (Education Specialist) from the University of Virginia.
