8th Period Release

Seniors become eligible for "release" from attending 8th Period at the end of the first 9 weeks grading period.  The school designed this period to provide additional time and academic support for students.  In order for a senior to be granted release, they must meet the following criteria:

  • earn a "C" or better for each class during this 9 weeks,
  • complete all "Verified Credits" for graduation,
  • have no more than one discipline referral per nine weeks, and
  • complete career planning activities as noted by Career Specialist, Ms. J. Garnett.

If you wish to grant your child the 8th Period release privilege, complete the form that is attached below and is being mailed home with report cards and return it at your earliest convenience to Mr. Vrhovac, Office 99-G. We need your daytime number in order to verify your signature should it be necessary.  Once we receive and approve the release, we will give your child an 8th Period release card.  The student will present his or her student id card and release pass to leave school grounds at the end of 6th Period without following the formal check out procedure.  Remember, you may withhold the release card from your child at any time.
