Long Range Master Facilities Plan As part of our strategic goal to establish efficient operating systems that maximize taxpayer dollars, Albemarle County Public Schools began a Long-Range Master Facilities Planning process in October 2008. This new program examines our school buildings and our student enrollment over the next ten years and determines the best ways to prepare our students to compete in the 21st century global community. Every school in our Division will be examined through this process. The Long-Range Master Facilities Planning team is comprised of staff from transportation, building services, assessment, and instruction, as well as teachers and community members. The team is considering whether to renovate, redesign or close existing buildings, whether to build new ones, and how to create transportation routes and instructional programs that are both efficient and effective for our children now and over the next decade. Phase I of our Long-Range Master Facilities Plan is currently underway with our Southern Feeder Pattern in 2008-2009. Our Northern and Western Feeder Patterns will be examined in 2009-2010. One of the most important parts of this process is gathering input from our parents and community members who will be affected by these changes. There will be many opportunities for feedback during this process, including on this web site.
