Appointment Message from Josh Davis I am honored to be appointed to lead the Department of Transportation Services for Albemarle County Public Schools (ACPS). Our transportation professionals - drivers, assistants, mechanics, analysts, and other support staff - are dedicated to safely and efficiently delivering each pupil to and from school each day. We seek to continuously improve our operations, and welcome communication and feedback with all our customers. We are proud of our record serving the citizens of Albemarle County, and pledge to provide a superior quality transportation system. I look forward to working closely with education professionals throughout ACPS and serving the families of Albemarle County. |

THE MISSION OF TRANSPORTATION SERVICES IS TO PROVIDE THE SAFEST HOME TO SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION POSSIBLE FOR ALBEMARLE COUNTY'S PRE-K THROUGH POST-HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN A CUSTOMER-FRIENDLY AND EFFICIENT WAY.
The Albemarle County Transportation Services Department employs approximately 250 people and operates with an annual budget of approximately $10 million. The Department consists of five different divisions to include student transportation, vehicular maintenance, bus routing, training and administrative services. Our buses travel over 11,000 miles per day over 750 square miles. The area we cover includes rural, suburban and urban terrain, thus making the routing of buses a challenge. We are responsible for the repair and maintenance not only of the buses but also all local government and school division vehicles. |
