7th Annual ESOL Community Information EXPO
May 5, 2010
Albemarle High School

  • Where do I register my child for school?
  • How do I open a bank account?
  • Can I buy a house even though I am not a U.S. Citizen yet?
  • If I am pulled over by a police officer, what should I do?

To those of us who have always lived and worked in the United States and Central Virginia, these may seem like simple questions to answer.  But to ESOL students and their families, these are just some of the many questions they face as new members of our community.  The ESOL Community Information EXPO is an opportunity for our students to ask these 'simple' questions, and for community organizations to interact with an ever-growing sector of the Central Virginia community.

If you or your organization would like information about or to participate in the 2010 ESOL Community Information EXPO, please contact Rebecca Martin at 434.296.3872 ext. 6  (rmartin2@k12albemarle.org).

For over 30 years Albemarle County's Office of Adult and Migrant Education and the Families in Crisis program has provided instructional services to adult residents of Central Virginia. Our affordable services help adults improve their basic skills, prepare for and take the GED exam, learn English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and learn basic computer skills.

Additionally, we offer Workplace Training, Citizenship and Business classes, Migrant and Homeless Education and other services as needed.  Our services are open to all residents of Central Virginia and are not limited to residents of Albemarle County.

We believe that Learning is Lifelong - it is NEVER too late to further your education and become a successful employee, parent and member of the community.
