ALBEMARLE COUNTY LEP STUDENTS RECOGNIZED Albemarle County Public Schools division has been recognized by the Virginia Department of Education as exceeding the LEP (Limited English Proficient) AMAOs (Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives) based on the Standard Learning (SOL) assessments and English Language Proficiency (ELP) assessments administered during the 2008-2009 school year. Students in county schools exceeded their counterparts across the state in the following ways: 1) making progress in learning English; 2) becoming fully proficient in English; and 3) meeting Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) targets in reading/language arts and mathematics.
AGNOR HURT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Agnor Hurt Elementary School has been busy writing books for students in Uganda. The program is called: "Books of Hope". Our ESOL teachers at Agnor Hurt, Bev Ingram & Sibylle Hunt, were instrumental in convincing the entire staff to get started with this program.
