What is Families in Crisis?

Albemarle County Schools' Families in Crisis is a federally-funded grant authorized by the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act , through Project Hope. The program is meant to ensure the enrollment, attendance, and the success of homeless children and youth in school. In addition, emergency services, referrals for health services, transportation, school supplies, and costs related to obtaining school records may be provided.

Families in Crisis may be able to provide the following services:SchoolCenter Picture

  • Tutoring
  • Gift certificates for food or school clothing
  • School supplies
  • Counseling
  • Referral to local resources

We believe all children can be successful in school. We are here to help.
