The Greer library, managed by Ms. Karen Goodloe, is open every school day to serve the needs of students and staff. The library is fully automated with Macintosh computers, an online patron's catalog, web-based encyclopedias and periodical databases, and internet access. The collection contains books along with computer software, magazines, video and audio cassettes (and other audiovisual) and professional and parent collections.
Students visit the library once a week for a scheduled class on library/ research skills. Students often use the media center individually or in small groups to do research or find materials for class assignments. They may also come in at any time to return or check out books. Kindergarten students check out one book at a time, first and second grade students check out two books, and third, fourth and fifth grade students check out three books. Books are checked out for two weeks and may be renewed. Overdue notices are sent home once a week, but no late fines are charged. If a book is lost, a bill will be sent home with the cost of the book. Students may exceed their check out limits if they need more books for a school project.
