Our School Division web site was re-designed during the 2006-07 school year to make it easier for people to quickly find the information they need. It also creates a new window to give the public a look into our classrooms and provides another visible outlet for celebrating our achievements. The new website is one of our strategies for improving communication with the public. Our goal is for the new website to inform you about our K-12 public school system and inspire you to get involved.
We invite you to click through our new website to familiarize yourself with the content and navigation. You will notice several important features:
-
A Real Simple Syndication (RSS) option on many pages where important content changes frequently. RSS allows a viewer to receive an automatic notice by e-mail when a particular web page is updated. School Board meeting agendas, news releases and the winter weather school schedule web pages are popular among RSS subscribers.
-
Podcasts of School Board meetings can be downloaded from our website under the "School Board" and "Podcasts" links.
-
A Spotlight on Learning feature on this homepage will highlight different programs and events across our School Division throughout the year.
-
An Awards & Accolades feature is coming soon to this website to celebrate achievements by students, employees, schools and the School Division.
To develop our new website, a School Division team reviewed results of an on-line survey placed on our former website, reviewed outstanding websites from other Virginia school systems, and used the SchoolSpan School District Website Rubric standards for exemplary websites to guide the construction of our new on-line home. We hope you find it a fast, friendly on-line resource for learning about Albemarle County Public Schools.
Sincerely,

Dr. Pamela R. Moran
Superintendent
