WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD …
MERIWETHER LEWIS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL would like to thank everyone for another wonderful school year. All the members of our school community have been so supportive of the students, teachers, and the great work to enhance the learning of each student. It is challenging to find all the words to express our gratitude for each and every one of you.
Here are some more recent reasons for us to show our appreciation.
SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS We have many parents and community members that give their time to support the school and students. It is this form of giving that impact the children and allows us to learn how no one can do everything alone. To date we have recorded over 3,724 hours of volunteer time. The school has purchased several books for the library in the name of our 2008 - 2009 volunteers so that we can remember you always.

A special thank you goes out to the Lipson and Paulson families for their art donation to the school. Monet's Water Lilies was a 5th grade art project in 2007-08. The painting was auctioned off in this year's silent auction. Thank you for contributing to the aesthetics of our school.

A HUGE thank you goes to our glorious PTO board for their generous support to Meriwether Lewis Elementary School. Thanks to them our students will be participating in the use of interactive technology at every grade level. We do not have a picture of this, but you will be able to view it at our Back-To-School Night in September.
When we all work together as a community to promote the life long learning of our children, wonderful things happen everyday. Thank you, all!

FIRST DAY OF CLASSES AUGUST 25, 2009!
Rising 6th Grade Students Need Immunization Booster Prior to Enrolling in Middle School
While summer can be filled with fun and vacations, it is also time to check with your child's pediatrician to ensure that all required immunizations have been given in order for your child to attend school on August 25. All rising 6th-grade students must have a booster dose of Pertussis-containing vaccine (T-DaP) before the first day of school for 2009-10. This is a state-mandated immunization for all rising middle-school students, and proper documentation must be turned into the school nurse before August 25. If your child is exempt from the T-DaP for religious or medical reasons, proper documentation also is required and should be turned into the school nurse before the first day of school.
Remember, no rising sixth grade student will be allowed to attend school on August 25 without proper documentation that the vaccine has been given. If you have any questions about whether your child needs the T-DaP immunization, call your pediatrician's office or your child's middle school.
