  Welcome Back

Woodbrook staff and volunteers welcome students to the new school year.

A Letter From the New Principal

Dear Woodbrook  Families,

Well it’s official! The new principal of Woodbrook Elementary has arrived. After spending the past few weeks unpacking and preparing my office, I can finally sit at a desk and do the real work!

The upcoming school year will be my twenty-fifth as an educator, with the first five teaching Special Education. The next 15 years were spent teaching everything from kindergarten through fifth grade, which has provided me with a strong understanding of the development of the child as a learner. My last four years were spent serving as Assistant Principal of Greer Elementary, the most diverse school in Albemarle County.

Now that I have been given the honor and opportunity to be part of your community, I am eagerly awaiting the start of the new school year. I can’t wait to begin working with your children and with all the members of the school and community to provide the highest standards of teaching and learning for our students.

Over the past four weeks I have had the opportunity to meet and talk with many of the staff members. With each conversation,  I discovered that Woodbrook is fortunate to have an incredible group of individuals who are extremely dedicated, caring and devoted to their students and community.  I have also been fortunate to meet a few of the students who are attending our summer program. I have found your children to be warm, welcoming, and eager to share what they are learning with me.  As I walked from classroom to classroom listening and observing I began to feel like I was right at home in the halls of Woodbrook!

I hope you all continue to have a great summer, and that you are remembering to encourage your child to read daily. If you are in the area feel free to drop on by and introduce yourself to me. Don’t forget our annual open house is scheduled for Thursday, August 19th  from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Our rising Kindergartners are invited to arrive at 3 p.m. for a special Kindergarten kick-off. Our PTO will also be hosting a Meet & Greet the New Principal on August 17th  from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Chick-Fil-A located across from the school. It will surely be a fun event and one that I am very much looking forward to as it will give me an opportunity to meet even more of our students and their families.

It is hard to believe that we are just three short weeks away from beginning what will be a great school year!

                  Sincerely,

                  Ms. Lisa Molinaro
