Census 2010: It's in Our Hands - 10 questions that affect our future

In mid-March, you received a 2010 Census Bureau 10-question questionnaire and a postage paid envelope. If you have not already done so, we need you to fill out the form and return it, so that every person in our community is counted. When you fill out the census form, you're making a statement about what resources our community needs going forward. Accurate data reflecting changes in our community are crucial in apportioning seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and deciding how more than $400 billion per year is allocated for projects like new hospitals, schools, job training centers, senior centers, bridges, tunnels and other public works projects and emergency services.  In addition, people from many walks of life use census data to advocate for causes, rescue disaster victims, prevent diseases, research markets, locate pools of skilled workers and more.

The 2010 Census form is just 10 questions, such as: Name, Sex, Age, Date of birth, Hispanic origin, Race, Household relationship, if you own or rent.  The census DOES NOT ask about the legal status of respondents or their Social Security numbers.

Participation isn't just important-it's mandatory. Be sure to completely fill out and return your census questionnaire. Your information is used only for statistical purposes and will not be shared with anyone. Title 13 of the U.S. Legal Code protects your information and your privacy.

When you do the math, it's easy to see what an accurate count of residents can do for our community. Better infrastructure. More services. A brighter tomorrow for everyone. For more information go to http://2010.census.gov .
