We will be meeting Saturday at NOON at the school from which we will travel north to the Courtyard Winchester, 300 Marriott Drive, Winchester, VA 22603. The phone number is 540 678 8822. Any questions? Please call 295 3969. http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/wgocy-courtyard-winchester/ Thanks, Coach Sut UPDATE -- Feb. 11, 2010 -- NOON As I reported by phone yesterday, the District Tournament has been canceled. The top four seeds from each weight class will represent the District. I have been in touch with the eight wrestlers on our team who have qualified. The Regional Tournament has been moved back one day and will take place on Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Due to an earlier start on Saturday, we will have to leave on Friday. At this point, I do not know when we are leaving. I do not know if we are in school on Friday either. We are NOT allowed to practice today. I will be in touch. If you haven't heard from me, please give me a call. 295-3969. Coach Sut UPDATE -- Feb. 9, 2010 The newest information concerning the District and Regional wrestling tournaments is still incomplete. At this moment we know a few things. The District Tournament will take place the first day we are all back in school this week. The tournament will be held at Orange with weigh-in at 4pm and wrestling to begin at 5pm. The Regional tournament has also been postponed and will NOT begin as scheduled on Friday. It is likely to be held on Saturday and Sunday this weekend in Winchester at James Wood HS. As a result, the District tournament can be held as late as Thursday of this week. We are still waiting to hear a difinitive word from the regional host. We are not expected to be allowed to practice until school is in session. We can not have the District Tourney on Wed. or Thurs. unless the division leadership of every school division agrees to allow their students to participate. We are all tired of the delays. Tired of shoveling snow and checking on the latest weather report. At this moment, Tues. at 2:30 pm, we are under a winter storm warning until 4pm on Wed. with accumulations expected between 5-10 inches, but likely on the low end of that range. School for Wed. doesn't look good, but if the snow totals remain low we may be able to get after it on Thursday. Please stay tuned. Coach Sut UPDATE -- Feb. 5, 2010 The Jefferson District Wrestling Tournament has been postponed until further notice due to the approaching winter storm. Wrestlers were recently advised of this probability. The Jefferson District wrestling coaches met this week to seed the tournament. We agreed to do everything we can to insure that a tournament takes place by Wednesday, Feb. 10. If a wrestler has a seeding or schedule question, please contact Coach Sutliff at 295-3969. I will be in touch. Stay in shape. Shovel driveways, run hills, the rest of your season is in your hands, seize it. Coach The 2010 Monticello Round Robin has been cancelled due to winter weather. Go figure. The JV Round Robin scheduled for Feb. 1 has also been cancelled. The scheduled make-up varsity tri-meet with Benedictine and Madison on Monday evening, Feb. 1st has also been cancelled. All activities scheduled will be cancelled if schools are closed for safety. Please check back for further details. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Sut at home, 295-3969. At this point, the Jefferson District tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 6. Go for a RUN. Watch what you eat. ENJOY the time with family. HELP a neighbor with their shoveling. Coach Sut The quad meet first scheduled for Jan. 21 and then rescheduled for Jan. 25 has been cancelled once again because of winter weather. This week we host the Monticello Invitational Round Robin at Monticello High School on Saturday, January 30th. Visiting teams include Powhatan, Stonewall Jackson, Heritage-Lynchburg, Amherst, Orange, Kettle Run, Benedictine, Chatham and Madison. Wrestling starts 9:30 am. Over the past weekend, we participated in the Cougar Classic at Stuarts Draft High School. Four Monticello wrestlers finished in first place for their weight class: Jacob Marshall (12) at 119, Alex Via (10) at 135, Garret Brown (10) at 145, and Timmy Rollins (12) at HWT. Congratulations on the championship performances. We also plan on hosting a JV festival on Monday, Feb. 1st at 6pm. Please visit for further updates. Peace, Coach Sut |
